<p>How come sentaifilmworks solicitation of the set ( Gatchaman season 1) does not acknowledge his contribution and gives credits to Tatsuo Yoshida? It's been known I assume among the Gatcha community that Amano was responsible for the character designs. </p><p>Just looking at Berg Katse's weird female form......instantly you see the Amano look/style. </p>

<p>If only we could get tatsunokofan to join in............ </p><p>Thanks to both of Aldo and MissReven, the links provided has given me a little insight on an issue I started in another thread. So aside from saving Joe, Dr. Rafael, though in a fictional sense, gives credence to the fears of Stephen Hawking about sending too much info out into the unknown (hello SETI) </p><p>Based on tatsunkofan's notes, Dr. Rafael inadvertently called Sosai X to Earth, his greatest sin. How he attracted that glowing head's attention, he tried to rectify that by contacting potential "enemies" of Sosai X but stopped when that means was used by Sosai X as a weapon or something that made it less "healthy" for the doctor. </p><p>So unlike the OVA which had Sosai X visiting Earth 2-3 million years ago (more like running away from his enemies), Sosai in the original was sent from Selector to search for a new world 2 million years ago and must have been wandering space for quite sometime. So factoring how he might have travelled in faster than light speeds, he arrived on Earth just before the Earth registered that "super nova" explosion in the Andromeda galaxy. </p><p>One part of tatsunokofan's notes about "contacting" friendly aliens. Could those be the ones he managed to "call" inadvertently but made contact instead with Dr. Nambu? Though Dr. Nambu stated in the Galactor Island episode when he rescued Joe, it was only then that he became aware of the existence of Galactor( or maybe he wasn't really telling everything to the crew............wasn't that a convenient coincidence that he was just passing by a scientific conference and made a detour to Galactor island?) </p>

<p>The Powerpuff Girls got away with it (and that was more or less targeted for the younger demographic). I remember how after a dozen unnecessary beat ups of your generic goons, blood splattering etc. Even the character "Him" (really, he had a very feminine voice and appearance) and nobody raised a howl? </p><p>Is comical rendering of violence okay while the almost detailed seen in Gatchaman bad? Talk about a warp logic but then again, it was the 1970s and kids shows had more rules to contend with. </p><p>The show really was ground breaking (what was the air like in the 1970s anyway? (lol!) Berg Katse reminds me of the 1980s Cobra Commander and Baronnes all rolled into one. Bumbling, stupid, very cold blooded and a master/mistress of disguise. And the Cobra goons are so inept that they could have been hired from the recently unemployed Galactor labor pool. </p><p>It always bugged me why Katse had a lipstick on........was he metrosexual before his time? Hermaphrodism is indeed a biological phenomena in the animal kingdom and he was a mutant  (nope, no agenda here) which Dr. Nambu (spoilers) postulated that nuclear radiation might have been the cause of Berg's condition. And again, the American version had to do a total re write of the series canon (no wonder BoP is such a wack job as posted in this wikia). Really like how into "science" the original show's writers were + a sprinkle of fiction.......an over the top fiction. </p><p>Tatsunoko indeed pulled out all the shots when rendering the near fluid fight and action scenes. Especially on Jun in her unguarded shots. Whteher "she kicks high" (to quote a phrase from the DOA series) or the jumping flip with Ken in episode 1 or the opening scene when the entire team does that circle sky diving manuever (again copied by the Bionic Six). The time and effort just to render those frame of animation........amazing. </p><p>On the violence. Boom here, boom there. What else do you expect from a terrorist group determined to rule the world (to quote the G.I. Joe narrator). Though it sort of bewidered me when in episode 2 of Jigo Killers(spoilers), the blood color of one Galactor goon was green. Was that intentional or was it "modified" by ADV/Sentaifilmworks?  And yet in the following and last 5 episodes(especially), blood splatters everywhere (the the goons were more intent to kill). </p><p>And the music. Kudos to the show's composer and of course the creators. It never grows old listening to the  Op and closing theme and the action themes. </p><p>I could go on and on. No wonder it over extended to 105  episodes. </p>

<p>In an episode  the Who is Leader X, two of the Galactor goons sent to fetch the scientist who built the cyber horses, well they look a lot like Doronjo's 2 bumbling goons.....only more detailed. And nearly 6 years before Yatterman was aired. </p><p>I also noticed the Mach 5  among the cars in the race track in the poignant ending scene of Joe waiting for the(spoiler) blonde racer/Galactor agent he killed (who later is revealed to be his childhood buddy's fiance) he promised to race with the previous day after rescuing her from a car wreck in the Plan to Assassinate Dr. Nambu. </p><p>Talk about a convoluted, operatic, melodramatic plot for teenagers 40 years ago (hats off to the writers back then). </p>

<p>I got to hand it to the producers of BoP. Despite going scissor happy on the original source material, after watching on Youtube "Attack of the Terrapin" (gawd where did they dredge the name lol!), a lot of effort was made to make the story as seamless as possible. As we all grew up with the series, back then it really struck a cord within our kid fantasy psyche. Even today, no series (American produced) could ever come close (well back in the mid and late 80s it was different). </p><p>I'm really surprised as how large the difference is between the Gatchaman version was and BoP. Same can be said with G-Force. A bit of tweaking on the dialogue and the story is given a 360 degree turn around. I remember in the cross country race between Joe and the Galactor defector. In Gatchaman, Katse was hot to press her destruct button while in G-Force, "Galactor" had second thoughts. And the sight of blood. Most of the time, especially in the last episodes, blood splatters were nearly everywhere.....that's good lol! But there was a scene in early episodes where a Galacter soldier falls on a torture rack meant for Ken. The rack had some spikes on it but when the soldier got impaled, he had green blood(why?). </p><p>On some technical issues of the SFW version. </p><p>SFW too had some technical goofs in the dialogue where the Turtleking commander shouts "Now!" in the Japanese dialogue and says "Galactor" in the english dub. Another issue I noticed in the episode where Katse's origins where being dredged up, in a scene (SPOILERS) with the sumo assassin in the prison, you can hear in the english track Jun shouting "Yoyo strike!" even before both she and Ken appears. </p><p>This is by no means make me a nitpicker with too much free time in my hands, because like Berg Katse before Sosai X, i bow before  ADV/SFW for undertaking this reissue after nearly 8 years....finally.......I got the entire collection. Thank you very much guys! </p>
