Unfortunately Madoka is king in Japan right now so don't expect the classics to return any time soon..in traditional form anyways.
Then again, you have to take an evolving approach when you are dealing with a long running work of fiction. Take Doctor Who for example, it started out as a campy educational sci-fi show and 50 years later its now a dark fairy tale with sci-fi elements.
I keep telling myself that the second season of Crowds will be better than the first..but I'm not getting my hopes up.
I keep hoping that this series is an experiment by Tatsunoko to see if people still care about the property and hold enough interest to warrant the original's return to the public eye.
If the live action film's box office take is any indication..... Yeah, dem young kids don't care about Gatchaman. (I personally blame the guys who wrote it and the production staff for blowing the film's budget on the costumes and CG effects)
