Dr. Finger (フィンガー博士) was a guest character that appeared in episode 90 of Science Ninja Team Gatchaman.
Background[]
Dr. Finger was the creator of the Iron Beast Matangar. He claimed he was promised by Leader X that if he could take down the Science Ninja Team, that he would be given Berg Katse's spot as sub-leader, leading to his confidence to try to fight them in such an Iron Beast.
Appearance[]
Dr. Finger was a tall, bald man with a long, white beard. He wore a red military-esque top with a black yoke, black slacks, and pointy white shoes.
Personality[]
Dr. Finger was brazen enough to tell Berg Katse his disdain for his lack of skill, and how X saw him as a failure, and proceeded to easily order him around. He similarly took charge of the Galactor troopers easily, being confident that with being their new leader, he could finally defeat the Science Ninjas. His calculating, self-assured nature got the Science Ninja Team nervous as well, noting how different he was than Katse. He used Katse's failures to determine how exactly he could ensure victory.
Even as the Science Ninjas managed to best him and figure out the weakness of Matangar, Finger insisted on taking them down with him, only to fail and show that he could not accomplish his mission.

While Katse would usually be able to hold his own or punish a subordinate, Finger's confidence and claims to have been summoned as his impending replacement momentarily left him at a loss.

Battle of the Planets[]
Dr. Finger was renamed Colonel Tu. He was described as being summoned by The Spirit to replace Zoltar, as the Spirit didn't like Zoltar's latest idea of conquering Earth. His death is censored by claiming he and his men ejected from the Armadillo mecha. After this, Tu was demoted and Zoltar took the reigns again.
