Gel Sadra (게르사드라, gerusadora) is the sub-leader of the evil organization Alector in the compilation film version of Eagle 5 Brothers, an unauthorized South Korean reversioning of Gatchaman II made in 1980.
Background[]
This version of Gel Sadra is visually similar to the original, minus the lipstick, but contains alterations in his backstory and is outright referred to as a male character vs. the ambiguous gender setting. He is the Alector leader's new subordinate, but is incompetent when compared to his predecessor, even if he vows to wipe out the Eagle 5 Brothers at all costs.
Appearance[]
As with the original Gel Sadra, this one has a clownish, kabuki-inspired appearance with the baggy, purple top with oversized bell sleeves, and a large, protruding blue collar and contrasting blue parts to their shoulders with black stitches holding them together. A black turtleneck piece is another part of this top. The rest of his outfit consists of tight blue pants, a gold belt, long white gloves, and high black boots. His headdress is primarily purple, white, and black, with a pointed nose and a more clownish appearance. His eyes are obscured by a pair of lenses, which make them out to be white and pink, and the exposed skin on his face and neck is colored a pale white. As mentioned above, the one key difference is that this Gel Sadra does not have his lips painted pink.
When unmasked, he has a more traditionally masculine face when compared to the original Gel Sadra design, including a large square jaw. His hair is also a bit shorter and styled differently.
When he was a young boy, he was shown to be a recolor of Benny Borg from episode 14 of Gatchaman II, having brown hair instead of blond and wearing a green sweater and khaki shorts.
Personality[]
Due to the compression of the Gatchaman II events, this Gel Sadra's personality and arc are also limited. He is a failure for the Alector leader, and has trouble swimming, due to the trauma he suffered as a young boy in nearly drowning and being abducted to the bottom of the ocean.
He eventually has a complex about learning his past, and remembering that Dr. Raquel was his mother, driving him to want revenge and to kill the Alector leader.
History[]
He was originally the preteen son of Dr. Raquel and her husband, and was named Marco (마르코). One day, he was on a cruise ship with his father to visit his mother, who was busy studying abroad in England. A strange meteor struck the ship, destroying it and killing many of the passengers aboard. The surviving Marco was then abducted by the Alector leader in a UFO and mutated and aged into an adult, brainwashed by him into being his loyal servant all the while.
Gel Sadra would launch attacks on the Eagle 5 Brothers, until Dr. Raquel felt a strange sensation that her son was still alive and wound up traveling to the Alector base. She would attempt to fight against the Alector leader, but wound up shot through the stomach, crying out "Marco!" and managing to transmit her location to the Eagle 5 Brothers before dying. Gel Sadra, troubled by the name of "Marco", wondered what it meant but came across a tape labeled "Marco" in the Alector base, showing video footage of him as a child being aged to an adult.
Realizing that he was Marco and that Dr. Raquel was his mother who just died, Gel Sadra would use his Demon Dragon mecha to attack the Alector leader, but wound up learning it was rigged to explode, and died before he could fully realize the implications.

- While no official reasons are given for this Gel Sadra's change in settings and a clarified male gender, it was believed that Sammie Pandora's growth scene involving bare breasts (even if not detailed and their body having overall "Barbie doll" anatomy) was considered too lewd and against Korean animation regulations. The character was thus made into an outright boy/man, so a bared chest would look less suggestive. Due to this change though, the angles of the transformation were also changed so any area below the waist from the front was not shown (even though in the original, this area was also not very detailed). It is unknown if this Gel Sadra's masculine unmasked face had any basis in anything from Gatchaman II or Fighter, although the large squared jaw does bring men like Count Egobossler to mind, and Fighter would have been in production and outsourced during this time.
