Kempeler (ケンペラー) was one of the commanding generals of Count Egobossler's army, and served as his intelligence officer to collect information.
Background[]
One of the two top subordinates of Egobossler, Kempeler particularly held the the ranks of Director of Strategic Intelligence and Captain of the Imperial Guard. In contrast to Mechandol, he was highly intelligent, but he enjoyed the most despicable sorts of tactics seemingly more than anyone else in Galactor.
Appearance[]
Kempeler was a tall, muscular general who dressed in a lavender blue military suit with red accents, and a matching cap with golden ear covers. He also a black cape, gloves, and boots, while the brim of his cap often happened to fall over one of his eyes and conceal it.
Like Mechandol, he had wild, dark brown hair and a beard, but not as long as the other man's.
Personality[]
Kempeler was shown to be a malicious, power hungry and cruel individual who thought little about killing people or harming the weakest (especially children). While he feigned loyalty to Egobossler, he secretly desired to seize the Count's power for himself and destroy the Science Ninja Team.
He would not trust anyone else in Galactor out of his own paranoia and suspicion, and enjoyed employing cowardly and sneaky methods of attack on humans. His failures and punishment by Egobossler strengthened his drive to overthrow him, but this arrogance also proved to be Kempeler's very undoing.
Relationships[]
Count Egobossler[]
Seeking power, Kempeler utilized the Rider Commandos to learn the secret of the Count's birth, and he eventually trapped Egobossler and betrayed him. After overthrowing Egobossler, he would launch an all-out attack with all his forces to eliminate the Gatchaman Base and Dr. Nambu. In the end, it would be Egobossler that would be responsible for killing Nambu and putting an end to the base.
In the wake of Nambu's death, Egobossler would capture Kempeler and sentence him to death by firing squad by Galactor Troops for his treason, dismissing him as just a coward.
Kassel[]
Kempeler would attempt to put Egobossler's imprisoned half-brother in charge of Galactor, with the two collaborating closely. Kassel would wind up dying in battle though, leaving Kempeler to want to seize all the power for himself and the final struggle to unfold between him and his deposed boss.

Eagle Riders[]
Kempeler was renamed to Vax. Ultimately, his attempt to overthrow Egobossler and his punishment and death are not carried over due to the censorship and anachronistic adapting of episodes.
