Pursue Katse! Is the 73rd episode of Science Ninja Team Gatchaman.
Plot Summary[]
The Science Ninja Team vanquishes another another one of Galactor's mecha titans and has let Katse escape yet again. With Nambu's transmission, they follow the course of Katse's rocket. However, Katse has switched to a car and heads towards a nearby jungle. The Science Ninja Team descends towards the dangerous jungle as well in his pursuit, and separates into three parties, searching for Katse.
X receives an SOS signal from Katse and, together with sending a commando unit, takes additional steps by setting traps in the jungle. While searching the jungle, Ryu sees and rescues a wounded young deer and falls into a death trap. Joe rescues Ryu, but also criticizes him for being gullible and clumsy while Ryu shoots back that he still has his humanity unlike Joe.
Meanwhile, Jinpei discovers Katse and corners him, but is in turn caught by the commando unit disguised as jungle animals.Before an ice covered prehistoric mastodon, Joe and Ryu discover a ritual being performed by robed Galactic soldiers. Jinpei is about to be turned into a human sacrifice by being tossed into a pit of fire.
Joe and Ryu save Jinpei and then corner the priest, who turns out to be Katse in disguise. Katse runs away into the frozen mastodon which is actually a mecha titan and attacks the Science Ninjas. They are saved just in time by the God Phoenix, and Joe initially wants to shoot a Bird Missile into the mecha titan. But when he sees a group of deer below the mecha titan, he hesitates.
Luring the mecha titan into the mountains, the team shoots at the ground below the mecha titan with a missile. Mammothodon collapses under its weight and disappears into an avalanche. The Science Ninja Team is wrong in assuming that, because of the jungle with the traps set, the headquarters is nearby. Its existence is still shrouded in the fog.
